🔍 You just applied to a role you’re excited about—now what?

Most candidates stop at the application. The best ones strategically network their way onto the hiring team’s radar.

Here’s how to do it (without being that person who cold-messages "Hey, can you refer me?"):

✅ 1. Do your research.
Find 2–3 people at the company—ideally in the department or on the team you’d be joining. Use LinkedIn filters like job title + location to narrow it down.

✅ 2. Personalize your outreach.
Send a brief, thoughtful message like:
"Hi [Name], I just applied for the [Role] and was impressed by [specific thing about their work or team]. I’d love to learn more about your experience at [Company]!"

✅ 3. Engage before you ask.
Like or comment on a recent post. Mention it when you connect:
"I saw your post about [topic]—really resonated with me."

✅ 4. Be clear, not pushy.
Your goal is to build a relationship, not ask for a favor right away. If the conversation flows, you can gently ask for insights on the team or process.

✅ 5. Follow up on your own application.
One follow-up message to the recruiter or hiring manager shows interest. Two? Too much.
